Our perfumer Patricia de Nicolaï's palette contains natural and synthetic raw materials. Each has its own unique characteristics that are difficult to replace. We adapt to what nature offers us, not the other way around. Since its inception, Nicolaï has been committed to creativity and passion, and thanks to its independence, Patricia is able to give free rein to her genius. No consumer testing is carried out during the creative process; only feedback from customers in stores and on the website matters to us. When we launch a new product, it is one we believe in deeply, a true olfactory encounter, a conviction. Our perfumer's talent has often been recognized: in 1988, Patricia de Nicolaï received the award for best young perfumer-creator from the Société Française des Parfumeurs for the fragrance Number One, which is still sold in our stores. She was the first woman to win this competition. Twenty years later, in 2007, Patricia was elevated to the rank of Chevalier de la Légion d'Honneur, as a female perfumer-creator at the head of her own brand.
In 2008, she was elected President of the Osmothèque, the International Perfume Conservatory, a role she held for 12 years. Today, she remains involved as an honorary member. She has always believed in the importance of protecting the heritage of perfumery. These accolades underscore her commitment. Of course, Maison Nicolaï is first and foremost a family business, and Patricia knows how to surround herself with her loved ones to get their opinions on her work. Their exchanges are always enriching and inspiring. Different generations, different olfactory tastes, and different opinions allow Nicolaï to offer its customers a wide range of olfactory experiences.
Authentic expertise guaranteed by our artisans, who master every stage of the production process. Founders Patricia and Jean-Louis chose to set up their manufacturing plant in France. The juices are created by Patricia de Nicolaï in her laboratory in Paris, and the concentrate is then sent to the manufacturing plant in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin for packaging. This approach allows us to be more meticulous, flexible, and responsive in the development and constant improvement of our products and services. The importance given to detail is made possible by local production, carried out exclusively in France.
Behind our products are several French artisans who fill the bottles with the utmost care, seal them by hand, and then carefully package them in their cases. We are very concerned about the quality of our products and take pride in the excellence of our perfume manufacturing process. This expertise guarantees a short supply chain and unparalleled traceability.
Transcending the boundaries of luxury and reinventing the codes of perfume. In the first Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur boutique, located in Paris's 16th arrondissement, Patricia decided to set up her creative laboratory in such a way that it would be visible to visitors to the boutique. Offering this immersive experience and piquing the curiosity of perfume lovers were central to her concerns and inspiration.
Today, although his laboratory has changed, we use this choice as a symbol of our actions. Aware of environmental and societal issues, we want to communicate more about our methods of creation and production and make Nicolaï Parfumeur-Créateur a perfume house committed to the perfumery of tomorrow. Once again, we are opening the doors to the world behind the scenes.
Patricia, who puts her intuition and genius to work in her creations. No consumer or marketing tests are conducted, and fleeting trends have no place in our stores. Only instinct, passion, boldness, and conviction guide our perfumer in her creative process.
The Nicolaï company has made the bold decision to take complete control of its manufacturing process. Since the brand was created, the fragrances have been created by perfumer Patricia de Nicolaï, and the concentrates are then sent to the factory in La Ferté-Saint-Aubin, located just 1.5 hours from Paris. There are no subcontractors; instead, artisans mix the concentrate with alcohol, fill the bottles, and seal them by hand. Like a signature, a ribbon is delicately wrapped around the neck of the bottle before sealing, and it is finally stamped with wax bearing the initials of Patricia de Nicolaï.
Nicolaï perfumes are the result of intuition.
